Song of the Week: Shout Parts 1 and 2

This week's random song of the week is "Shout," parts 1&2, by the Isley Brothers. Which in my opinion is the best song to play at wedding receptions.

My first memory of the song is from the father the daughter dances I attended while in Girl Scouts. Guy Maggard is not a dancer, no ifs ands or buts, unless "Shout" is playing. I think it has to do with the song, one, being from his era, two, it has distinct dance moves that aren't awkward like the Chicken Dance or Hockey Pokey, and, three, it's a great song.

It has a fun tempo, a great beat, funky instrumentals, and strong captivating vocals. I'm not really sure where the break between parts 1 and 2 actually starts, but I do love that it has distinct parts where it goes from being faster to slower and quieter to louder.

I'll be damned to find someone who doesn’t start tapping his or her toes when the music starts. I can't help but start tapping their toes; I'm at my desk wriggling my shoulders back and fourth as I type this.

And since I always find a picture from my childhood relevant to my blogs here is one from a father daughter dance where we danced to "Shout."
