Song of the week: I Run to You

Alright, I've been thinking about having a song of the week blog for sometime and decided it would run on Wednesdays. I would have driven myself crazy if I had to pick the song each week so I figured I would pick the first song to come up when I shuffled through my itunes library.

Of course for the my very first post, one of the 10 country songs I own decided to come up first; don't judge me. However, I admit that I really do like this song, and listened to it several times today in order to write this.

My opinion on the rules of country music: girls are totally allowed to like a few country songs because they are cute; I'm a girl and therefore allowed to like sappy love songs.

I didn't really know much about this band other than that I liked this one song. I just read a little about them on Wikipedia, and it seems like they have done quite well for themselves. It makes sense though, for one, I like their voices; they sound a little different than the sound I usually associate with contemporary country singers.

The background music, is a little on the borrowing side, sort of inline with what I don't usually like about the sound of contemporary country, that the instrumental parts don't stand out to me. However, I'm quite attracted the drums in the song for some reason. I think it's the steady drum beat and the heavy reliance on the symbols.

And the thing that makes me have a positive opinion about any song is that it gives me this really great feeling, like my heart is going to burst and beautiful white doves are going to fly out of it. I can't explain why I feel like this, but really can anyone put into words why certain music makes us feel so great?
